For the celebration of the Tricentennial anniversary of the city of Chihuahua, the city’s mayor, Carlos Borruel, entrusted the organization of the First International Film Festival of the city of Chihuahua to a committee specially established for that purpose. In a press conference, the committee announced the winning logo for the festival. According to the committee’s president, Álvaro Madero Muñoz, the objectives of the festival are: to promote the city as an attractive destination for the film industry as well as a gateway to the marvelous and countless attractions that the State of Chihuahua has.
The festival will take place from August 20th to the 22nd and it will be graced with the presence of renowned national and international artists. The logo for the festival was selected among 20 projects and, according to its creator, Héctor Enrique Zárate de la Fuente the winner of the five thousand pesos prize, the logo was inspired by the doves in the atrium at Chihuahua’s cathedral and also the artists’ freedom of expression along with the celebration of the Tricentennial anniversary of the city of Chihuahua. The logo embodies pieces of film emulating the shape of a dove and a three-petaled flower. At the press conference were the director of the International Film Committee, Alberto Fierro González, as well as city council members Rodolfo Rojas Ornelas and Angelina Peressini.
